i hav a site made in visual studio, using an MS Access Database.

i hav bought a domain name from hosting365.

where can i host it?

HELP PLEASE

Who should i host my website with?

If you intend to create a few websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.

I would suggest following webhosting , they are quite good.

Hostmonster http://www.anurl.com/?PQMRY

They offer hosting of %26quot;unlimited domains%26quot; and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer %26quot;a free Domain Name%26quot; and installing service called %26quot;Fantastico%26quot;. By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer %26quot;Free Website Builder%26quot; as well.

Visit the site to check details.

Domains

Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.

IPOWER http://www.anurl.com/?TXIBE

Who should i host my website with?

you can transfer your domain, and host with www.sdhinternet.co.uk

any probs mail me at shaun@sdhinternet.co.uk

Other Replys:I use http://gate.dominateoptions.com and really like them. I don%26#039;t use MS access but I just checked the help section and they are compatible with it. They also have a 99.99% uptime guarantee which most other hosts won%26#039;t guarantee.

Hope this helps you

A record is added in DNS when we join a client box to a domain. What is that record??? Host record OR SOA?

It%26#039;s an A record. SOA is the record that holds configuration for the DNS zone.

Is there any good (and free) web publishing software out there?

Or, could someone point me in the direction of a good programming tutorial? I%26#039;m really new to this. I need something simple for a band website. I%26#039;ve already got a domain name and a web host, so I think I%26#039;m almost set.

I%26#039;m looking to make something along the lines of rivulets.net or vstk.org.

(BTW, I am not affiliated with either of these bands!)

Is there any good (and free) web publishing software out there?

To do WYSIWYG web pages editing, you have NVU, a Dreamweaver like opensource, multi-platform application.

This is a good point to start, a little buggy maybe.

http://www.nvu.com/index.php

Then to learn HTML you have a lot of websites. Here is one :

nope... u get what you pay for... unless u find a way to steal a serial number for dreamweaver or something.

Other Replys:OpenOffice has writer that allows you to create web pages with, or you could always find some freeware visual web design tool. If you really want to do it right, Microsoft is allowing people to %26#039;beta%26#039; test the replacement for frontpage called Microsoft Expression WebDesigner.

What is the best free website page template, designing, editing %26amp; publishing software for a beginner?

Some free web hosts may provide a website template builder. Unfortunately, when you move your site, you often cannot take your site design with you to another host. The templates are usually licensed for use only on that particular host.

Perhaps a better approach is to download a template from a website like

Open Source Web Templates

http://www.oswd.org/

and then use a free web editor like Nvu. You can find a beginner%26#039;s tutorial for using Nvu here:

Other Replys:If you currently are a web subscriber, your current provider offers a homepage into which you can FTP your current webpage(s) [which can be authored/designed using Composer [an authoring tool which is free when using Netscape browser], NotePad, MSN Word, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.] and use the homepage hosting services. In a sense, you are hosting a commercial webpage via the homepage link and incurring merely the monthly access of, say, AOL.com, etc. Nevertheless, should you want to link your current domain name to the homepage URL, you%26#039;ll need to use a third-party redirection service, i.e., mydomain.com [which is free] or simply direct your domain name registry, i.e., godaddy.com to forward your domain name [with masking] to the link it to your homepage URL. It%26#039;s that simple.

Good luck!

Using SSL certificates on shared IP...?

Is there any issue that might arise if one uses multiple SSL certificates for different domains, on a shared IP hosting?

Using SSL certificates on shared IP...?

Not at all. SSL certificates are tied to domain names, not IP addresses. As long as each domain has its own certificate, you%26#039;re good to go. IP addresses are irrelevant with SSL.

As a side note, you COULD technically use one cert for multiple domains, but visitors would get warnings about invalid certificates for all the domains that don%26#039;t match the cert.

Name Server Question....Can one Host a website on one server but manage email on another?

Hi, if you have a domain name that you have email set up on one server and the site hosted on another, where do you point the name servers... to the hosting account or the email. If we point to the hosting the email doesent work, if we point to the email the site appears down.

Name Server Question....Can one Host a website on one server but manage email on another?

It%26#039;s actually possible to have your domain name point to your website hosted at A, yet pull up email handled at B. The tricky part is knowing what DNS records to create for those purposes appropriately.

Basically you%26#039;ll need to use someone%26#039;s nameservers with an online function to let you create Address (A) records, Mail eXchange (MX) records, Canonical NAME (CNAME) records, etc. You create any of those DNS records I mentioned based on whatever info you have from your website and email providers.

Without going into technical detail, explain to both website and email providers what you want to achieve. Then ask if they can provide some information on the subject.

How do I build a website?

After I decide on a domain name and find a host, what happens next? do they give me some sort of password that i use?

I%26#039;m wondering because this is for my business, and i want to hire someone to design it, but after that, I want to have control over it.

How do I build a website?

Most domain hosts allow you to FTP into their server. They should provide you with an address to FTP to and a username and password. IE7 will allow you to FTP so you don%26#039;t need any special program. When you FTP into the server you will see the files that are the website. It will work similarly to any other folder you open on your computer. Drag and drop files to and from the folder as you please.

How do I build a website?

The person designs it and uploads it to your server. It is then all yours. You can log into your server control everything.

Wanted to add...

You might have trouble changing this on it after the build and design it for you. That is unless you know HTML or have a program like dreamweaver or frontpage.

there are two main ways to do this, on your computer go to my network places and create new network place and it will ask what type of network chosse the folder that looks like a file folder hooked up with wires(web folder) and type in your domain name like for example Http://www.yahoo.com NOT

Ftp can be easier because u drag and drop files but on most progams if u use ftp it limits future features(ftp is best for dragging and droping html files written with notepad)

you will want to have some sort of web editing program like front page(i highly recommend for begginers)

Other Replys:A good website is never done. It will take constant updating and work.

For anyone to say building a website is easy. I would have to wonder how many websites they have built and what the quality level of those sites was. I would also wonder what technologies they they implemented to build it.

I am also guessing that they believe computer programming and application development is easy as well. I say this due to the fact that many websites are designed using programming languages and custom written applications. Most of the larger web sites in the corporate world contain dynamically generated HTML or XHTML with data from other resources such as databases.

There are way too many people out there that believe they can build a web site without knowing how to hand code. They believe if they have a copy of FrontPage or Dreamweaver that makes them a webmaster.

There is far more to web design and development then those people can even imagine. At a minimum to design a decent website you should know HTML, CSS, JavaScript and probably a DBMS as well such as MySQL. Knowing other languages such as PHP, C#, VB, Perl, Ruby will only improve your programming and web design toolbox as well.

One of the things that bothers me the most is that every graphics designer I have ever met advertises that they build websites. I know very few that can claim they are proficient in any programming language.

Hope that helps

I have nothing but praise for them! They make EVERYTHING so easy! They supply all of the online training, simple (yet incredibly sophisticated tools) and excellent support.

There is small annual hosting fee to pay but that includes all of the above plus your domain registration. They even supply the templates for designing your site! And don%26#039;t worry about html coding or other techy stuff as that%26#039;s all taken care of for you!

My site is only a year old. but It閳ユ獨 already very highly ranked by the major search engines and is attracting more than 15,000 visitors a month! Plus it generates an income which not only well exceeds the costs, but actually shows a very healthy profit!

What all do I need to purchase to have my own website?

Do I need to purchase a domain and then a website Host or is that the same thing? I%26#039;m trying to figure out about how much money it is a month. Thanks

What all do I need to purchase to have my own website?

The Domain is essentially the url name. For example www.microsoft.com is the domain for Microsoft. You can purchase your domain on a monthly payment plan through Yahoo, Google and a host of other companies. If you go this route, they also offer templates for building your own website for whatever it is you want to do online. A store would be different than a plumbers site. If you want to accept credit cards, they can help you with that as well. You fill out the online application and they let you know if you are approved.

Be aware that everything you add, like credit card payments adds to the cost, which is typically a monthly cost billed directly to your credit card or bank account.

You could also go to a traditional web designer. These people will produce a custom webpage to your specs. It will cost you a little more up front, but may have benefits in the long run. Web Designers can also help you get the Domain name registered. They also have relationships with Hosting companies and can usually make a few recommendations for you to sellect from.

I started with a Yahoo site myself. I was not thrilled with the limited number of templates at that time. I%26#039;m sure there are alot more now. So I went to a designer who came up with exactly what I wanted. I use GoDaddy for hosting my site now.

I hope that helps at least a little. Good Luck!!

What all do I need to purchase to have my own website?

You need to purchase both website hosting and a domain name. You can do that either from 2 different companies or from companies which provide both services, like godaddy.

Domains help?

A domain is not a web site; it%26#039;s just a URL that can be pointed to an existing web site. And yes, they should upgrade or create a web site using a tool. If they are not familiar with html code, then I would suggest SiteBuilder, which can be downloaded for free here

You can try some of the templates at http://live.office.com

They have many options for small businesses and they have a free basic option. You can get ideas from their templates and go ahead design around that.

After that you just have to upload to your hosting company, and point your domain name to the hosting company%26#039;s ip address and path.

I want find out whether i will loose the traffic history, hit count and the ranking when i switch my hosting place to adifferent IP address after my site is completed.

I don%26#039;t think so and you should not worry about ALEXA they are not accurate anyway.

Alexa will not show a ranking unless you have decent traffic.

Most of it will be your visits anyway.

You%26#039;ll have no ranking or anything for ages.

And as the previous poster said, forget about Alexa, no one takes it at all seriously.

And why do you care how many people have come to a site that%26#039;s under construction. They will not come back.

Sorry, but that%26#039;s the way it is.

Get the site finished, then when you have something to care about, worry then.

How Do I Activate Website?

Double check the DNS settings. The domain should work with whatever hosting setup you have. Make sure that that the domain directed to the server/host (either through an A record or a C name) and that the server/host is looking for the domain as well. If that does not clear it up, seek help from the customer support of the domain service and/or the hosting service.

Installing an http server on computer?

I wanted to host my friend%26#039;s and mine%26#039;s site as in a domain like:

www.The-domain-name.com

I wanted to set up my own network or something but if not possible, may I ask for safe and reliable host that gives us our own domain name like the above example? It does not have to be free.

Installing an http server on computer?

The cost of going through a host out ways the cost of hosting your own. You will need a DSL account, a Static IP. Then you will have to do port forwarding on your router to get outside www traffic to see the server inside your machine. A static IP is anywhere from 5 - 99 dollars a month depending on your ISP. Some will allow you to purchase 1 other make you purchase a block of 6 or more. Then you need a router that will allow port forwarding. If you have cable modem that the ISP gave you, they usually don%26#039;t allow you to configure them. Then you have to purchase a firewall to do all port configuration.

Some domain hosting companies now are real cheap. You may have to put their adds on your site to reduce cost, but you don%26#039;t have all the overhead of configuring a router and building a network. There is also a security issue if you let www traffic in. If your web server is on your home PC, once someone has access in, they can get access to your whole machine.

Installing an http server on computer?

Visit http://www.doteasy.com That%26#039;s the best way to get a website host and domain name at a reasonable price... just $26 per year.

Moving from Blogger to Wordpress: Any advice?

The services that your host provider offers depends on the package you have with your current provider. Some providers offer a %26quot;moving%26quot; service that will manage the transfer of a website from one server to the other without compromising the structure of the website. If you are finding that your blogging site is becoming popular, you may want to look into some software applications that will allow you to add advanced features to your blog, an HTML editor for example. You may also want to look into what services are available at your new host should another move be needed in the future.

Support is great so Im told but I have had to use them. For around a 鎷? a month they offer a great package and whats more it%26#039;s not over sold.

stear well clear of servage.net or any cheap packages sold on Ebay.

GoDaddy.com question!?

I%26#039;m new to GoDaddy. I bought a .com domain, but want to know if I could use web hosting other than GoDaddy.com%26#039;s because its pretty expensive.

GoDaddy.com question!?

you can use any host you want but godaddy offers great support and some eay to use tools

GoDaddy.com question!?

Absolutely!

When you register for a hosting account, just log back into godaddy.com, and go to domain managment, and update your DNS - also known as nameservers - then this will point to the name servers at your host.

lunarpages.com is a great host - and 7 bucks a month.

Other Replys:Yes you can, but you%26#039;re better off sticking with GoDaddy. Reason being, if they are your registrar and they host your site, there%26#039;s less people to call (and no way for them to say %26quot;it%26#039;s the other guy%26quot;) in case there%26#039;s a problem.

And sure, there%26#039;s other hosting companies, and there are cheaper ones, but reliability is an issue.

Out of 5 different hosting services I tested a few weeks, 2 being %26quot;free%26quot;, one costing about $15 a year, one costing about $7 a month, and GoDaddy, GoDaddy was the only one that I didn%26#039;t have any problems with. The others had problems ranging from ftp errors, horrible latency, horrible page load (bandwidth) issues, and horrible tech support (never use GlobeDomain hosting - ever).

Hope that helps.

Jason

Other Replys:I agree with CRH. GoDaddy is my registrar and host, customer services in EXCEPTIONAL. I currently have 21 sites hosted with them, only 1 site was down for less than 1 minute in 8 months. Remember the old saying you get what you pay for. Avoid 1and1.com and IPower.

Other Replys:If you already have a Domain or Website and are looking for a reliable web hosting at a low price; Startlogic is a good hosting providers. Best full-featured plan, designed for users determined to change their hosting at an affordable price ($2.95/month).

As far as you transfer your Domain or Website, you would get the features as listed in the ProLogic Plan. (at $2.95, not $5.95 !!!). It means you get Free Credits ($80) to Advertise your site with Google %26amp; Yahoo search engines to get more traffic to your website!

Help with creating a website?

I already registered the domain name with register.com, but I did not like the package deal they had for hosting or design. I downloaded Microsoft frontpage on my computer, and designed the pages. Only now I cannot figure out how to make the pages public so everyone can see them. The domain name is registered, but would register.com still be the hosting site? Can I host through frontpage? I am overthinking this and making myself soooo confused... please help.

Help with creating a website?

You have to use a ftp program to upload to the net .Godaddy is a good hosting company and cheap with lots of help. You can read about them here.

Help with creating a website?

u just need to upload the pages u made in frontpage.......i dont kno the exact way but u can do that with yahoo geocities.....can u tell me from where u downloaded frontpage.....i need it really bad.........my email is aamir_raza60@hotmail and yahoo

Other Replys:You have a domain name and a tool for creating pages (front page) Now just look at hosting as a place to keep your web site. There are many places to host your site. Try doing a search for hosting and compare features and prices.

Other Replys:There are a ton of places you can host for cheap. Geocities small business packages (which is what you will need since you have your own domain name) start at 8.95 a month (for a service that allows you to use your own domain name). I think I have seen cheaper out there, but remember you always get what you pay for.

Other Replys:You just need somewhere to host your site. This does not need to be done at register. You can buy a hosting plan anywhere and then transfer your DNS in your domain control panel to the hosting site. Once you get a hosting plan the hosting company will be able to tell you how to do this and the DNS servers to use. Try looking at the hosting plans at http://www.dakotawebhosting.com

Can I able to run my own POP and SMTP servers ?

Hello,

I bought domain name already. I%26#039;m going to purchase a web hosting package which includes PHP. Can I able to run my own SMTP and POP servers in my domain ? As those servers are just programs after all.. Anyone plz explain....

Thanks...

Can I able to run my own POP and SMTP servers ?

If you plan on managing the mail servers yourself ( ie. servers located at your home) you would just need to to make sure the MX record is correctly pointed to your home mail server.

If you want the hosting company to do it they will have that all arranged.

I also recommend running some sort of mail filtering solutions such as spamassassin with clamav, firetrust, etc etc

article on how to build your own

Can I able to run my own POP and SMTP servers ?

Yes...I use PageWaiter (plans start at $20/year) and they offer POP3 and SMTP by default...all you have to do is set up an email address.

What does ... Unknown virtual host, or your web browser does not support HTTP/1.1 mean? and how do i

Unknown virtual host, or your web browser does not support HTTP/1.1

The domain name is not configured on this server as a virtual host or the server cannot determine which virtual host to connect to, as you are using a web browser that does not support HTTP/1.1

how do i make it so it is supported!

Looking for a good, cheap web host?

I need a host for a school club website. I already have the domain from Yahoo domains. I don%26#039;t need that many features, just need a fairly low priced one.

How about FREE, with no advertisements either? Can%26#039;t get cheaper than that. Plus you get five email accounts, five MySQL databases, five FTP accounts (handy if more than one person from your club needs to log in to work on the site)...

Cannot find the current websites I'm busy designing?

Hi,

I know this is a stupid question. I recently switched hosting companies and I have hosted two websites [currently under constrction]

http://www.xaveri.org

http://www.aatsol.co.za

They%26#039;re just simple websites... nothing fancy or complex.

Now, THE PROBLEM::::

Whenever I search for the websites using a search engine I get nothing. The only thing i get is a message stating that the domain name may not be registered. Could the problem be with the hosting company?

I have meta tags on my HTML code and I have registered my site with Google about 56 hours ago and still there is nothing.

Is there a way that I can sort out the problem without shooting the person who hosts my websites or switching hosting companies? I have hosted websites before with other companies and I was able to search the site without really registering with search engines....

Please assist and I%26#039;ll reward you with a fat 10 points.

Cannot find the current websites I%26#039;m busy designing?

I checked your sites, they are not indexed by google yet. This means that google has actually found your site.

You can check by typing in site:www.example.com into the google search.

First of all 56 hours is not a lot of time to wait on google. It can take weeks sometimes.

The best way to get google to find you is to get other people to link to your site. The more links to your site, the more likely the google bots will find it. Go to message boards and post a link or ask other webmasters that run more popular sites to link to you.

This is just the start in getting indexed, the real challenge comes after when you try to get ranked first for the keywords you are targeting.

Try keeping up with the blog at seomoz.org.

Using ECommerce?

Maybe I%26#039;m not getting it because I%26#039;m at work, or just having a slow day, but has anyone used ECommerce and can explain to me how it works? There are no charges listed on their site, they claim to be free. Are they really a free web hosting service? And do you have to register your domain name with another service? Do you set up your website through ECommerce or somewhere else? I%26#039;m so confused . . .

Using ECommerce?

Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a %26quot;homepage%26quot; which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool which is totally free. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage.

Nevertheless, the %26quot;homepage%26quot; URL is likely to be %26quot;http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe... name%26quot; and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., %26quot;mydomain.com%26quot; which allows you to link any registered domain name to %26quot;mask%26quot; another website. For example, should you type in the %26quot;domain name,%26quot; you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... a homepage URL which will be masked by the domain name. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE.

When you acquire a domain name, connect it using a redirection service [as discussed above] and submit/publish the domain name on major search engines/directories in order for Net surfers to find your website.

Good luck!

Using ECommerce?

Whats the website URL you%26#039;re looking at? ECommerce stands for electronic commerce, as in a web store where you make purches. LIke http://www.jbnaturals.com is.

I'm thinking of buying a server?

Yes it is possible, may be you can contact a web designer at website like http://getafreelnacer.com/ to setup web hosting functionality in your server.

I am starting a small online business...?

Hi,

I am starting a small online business, but I would like to know if anyone know%26#039;s of any good hosting/ecommerce sites? I need an affordable website builder/domain, and the essentials%26#039; to accept payments via credit.paypal- I have no idea where to begin, any advice would be helpful! thank you!

I am starting a small online business...?

Go to http://www.intrinzicdesignz.com they provide a complete solution for your website needs.

1) They will register your domain name for you

2) They can host your website

3) They will build your website according to your taste, specifications, needs.

4) They will build a product catalouge for you, so you can add as many products as you want and create as many product categories as you want.

5) They will integrate your payment processor to the shopping cart that they will build for you.

6) They will build a custom website administration area for you, so you can edit / update your website even without programming knowledge.

7) They can maintain your website for you if you choose to.

Their complete packages ranges from $79 to $199 one time fee.

I am starting a small online business...?

do u have ur own website? goto microsoft.com and u can get a website creator from there...

Other Replys:Try www.herbalife.com

Other Replys:GoDaddy has hosting packages for about $4 a month. You can set them up for either linux or windows servers/databases.

you can find it at http://www.godaddy.com

They are a major player in this arena. You do have to go through a lot of ads as part of their sign up process, but you can click past them all.

Other Replys:If you go to http://www.dakotawebhosting.com they have everything you need in one place. Basically, you need to register a domain and get an SSL certificate if you%26#039;re going to be accepting credit cards. Also, they have a quick shopping cart feature that makes it easy to setup an online store. If you need a merchant account so you can process the credit cards, they also have those there too.

Hosted webmail %26amp; site with WYSIWYG content manager, provider sought for small business?

There is a TON of services out there that can set up a domain name for you, as well as host content. I personally used Godaddy.com, as it was extremely cheap, but by all means, do a search for Web Hosting. I was able to purchase a domain, upload content and get rolling all through the intenet, without talking to a sole. However, I used Dreamweaver MX for my editing, but I believe you can find simply WYSIWYG editors.

If Dreamweaver or similar editing program is not in the cards, I would try Homestead.com. I believe they have a trial period where you can try their wysiwyg editor, and they offer domain name service as well. I did try their service way back when, when the cost was zilch, but am unfamiliar with their customer service attributes. You may want to type in %26quot;Full Service Web Hosting%26quot;. Another is Yahoo%26#039;s Small Business web hosting service, with it%26#039;s built in wysiwyg editor.

Domian to different website?

Can I move my domian with uk2.net to another site that offers very cheap web hosting. I do not have webhosting yet. only the domain with that website

Domian to different website?

you can move it to www.sdhinternet.com they currently offering

鎷? per month hosting for 12 months - price after that is 鎷?.99

www.sdhinternet.com when you sign up there is the option to tranfer your domain as well

Domian to different website?

The domain is completely separate to the web hosting service (unless you signed some weird contract). But typically, you will always keep the same domain you originally bought until it expires. And during that time you can change web hosts as much as you like.

But once you find a web host you like, it%26#039;s a good idea to stick w/ them as long as you can - then you don%26#039;t have to keep moving your files around.

Other Replys:just use godaddy, com you can create not only as many domains as you want. but also transfer your domains you currently have from another place to them for $6.99 each. you also can use services such as website tonight that they own to create your custom site. make an account with godaddy first then find the transfer domain link in the menu. then jsut follow the instructions. it will take about 48 hours or less to transfer. ive used thise site for years and still haven%26#039;t gottn a chance you take adavantage of all the features it has.

Other Replys:Yes. Find a new host company and get in touch with them. Ask them to help you set up your domain through their hosting company. Every good hosting company will handle most of the transfer process. (MAKE SURE YOUR LISTED AS THE ADMIN OF YOUR DOMAIN NAME,MEANING YOUR THE LEGAL OWNER if not you%26#039;ll end up screwed ) (like me) :)

Other Replys:A domain is just the name and your host is where your website files are. Look at it as the host as a piece realestate like a brick and mortor store and the domain would be the sign that hangs in front of that store.

Since you dont have hosting currently this will be pretty simple. Order your host and they will send you a welcome email with DNS setting that look similar to this ns1.host.com. You will need to log in to your Domain Registrar and put these addresses in the DNS settings area. Contact your registrar if you are not familiar where this is at.

One thing about cheap hosting. Be carful if you are paying almost nothing for hosting. Problems

Uptime of Service

No Support

No email services

Limited Disk Space

Slow Bandwith

and so on........

Other Replys:Yes you can buy web hosting from website like http://aplis.net/ and just change the name server for your domain to point to your web host%26#039;s name server.

Other Replys:Yes, buy your hosting from somewhere reasonable (I like www.lcn.com).

The new company will tell you what their %26quot;DNS servers%26quot; are, then contact uk2.net to find out how to change them (hopefully you can do it online, or they may have to do it for you manually).

Hosting and domain registration are two separate entities.

Other Replys:I use ITS Inc and they are great to work with and they make it easy to build and host a site. Call them to find out how they can help you get your site up and running.

How can i host my own website from my computer for free?

i want to make a website and have it hosted from my computer. I do not care what the domain name is and stuff like that. I tried apache and i could not figure it out so plz helpz me.

How can i host my own website from my computer for free?

You probably can%26#039;t. First, you don%26#039;t know how to install and use Apache, so that means doing it right is over your head. Second, your ISP probably doesn%26#039;t allow you to hang a server on your Internet connection.

I would go with one of the very inexpensive hosting plans like www.brokehosting.com. For $10/year you have your own Web site and 5 email addresses.

How can i host my own website from my computer for free?

you can have a local testing server on your computer, and install apache, php, mysql, etc.

But if you want the site to be live on the web, you%26#039;d need to allow the world to access your computer and you%26#039;d better have really good security and really good bandwidth on your internet service.

Other Replys:yes you sure can...the domain name you can get from www.1and1.com or a number of different sites and will cost you a few dollars a year. they will also host you site. You can also host the site yourself by going to www.apache2triad.net and downloading the free server..this includes almost everything you will need..this can get a bit confusing at first but there are tons of forums out there to help...so dont give up..you can also goto www.phpnuke.org to download a php program. php is just a different format than html.you can edit this and make just about any kind of site you want and is also free.there is also tons of help forums for this too...or use microsoft frontpage or dreamweaver.these will cost a bit..if you are going to sell something try www.zencart.com...if you need more help go to www.travanie.com/modules.php?name=Forums... ... and post your ??%26#039;s there..i will reply as soon as possible..

Other Replys:You can use Dynamic DNS to allow others on the internet to find your computer some other way other than ip address alone. Then you will need to setup a web server. Since you had problems with Apache, you can look at some others. I%26#039;ve used the TinyWeb webserver from http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/tinyw... It was pretty easy to setup, but is not a powerful as Apache, or IIS. If you want a more powerful webserver, I would give Apache another try.

Other Replys:Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.

Good luck!

Other Replys:There are two principal steps to make your website on the internet and registering/booking a domain name is the number one.

A domain name builds the address of your site and can end in . com, . net, . org, . info, . us, . biz, . tv and further.

Directly afer you have registered your name, you will pick a web host (2nd step). The web host is the guts of any website as this is where you build and publish your pages, build purchase fillings, insert service and preserve your site.

Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.

Other Replys:Try HQ Host http://hqhost.info

Other Replys:I%26#039;ve been using Bluehost for years and have always been very impressed with them. They offer great service, great prices ($6.95/month), and are always upgrading to be faster and offer more bandwidth/storage. I can%26#039;t think of a time where there was any real downtime. I%26#039;m a little weary going with uber:cheap hosting companies, so I stick with slightly bigger, but reliable places like bluehost.

You can also host up to 5 or 6 sites there with one account, which is awesome if you keep making sites. Also, when you sign up, you can get a free domain! Which I used when I signed up, and have since added 4 other sites to that account.

Hope this helps.

Moved site from 1 host to another. One PC resolves at new locationthe rest don't. All XP. flush

I have tried everything I know to do. I have called my ISP (CenturyTel) and they say they don%26#039;t have know why. I%26#039;ve called the old datacenter and they say it%26#039;s not them - same with new datacenter. It%26#039;s strange because everytime I move one of my clients to the new datacenter, 4 of my PCs running XP never propogate and one always does. I can%26#039;t find anything about this. I can edit my hosts file and manually enter the new IP address and domain name, but I can%26#039;t expect the rest of the CenturyTel users in my area to know how to do that.

Stupid suggestion (probably), clear the browser caches.

Wedding Gallery do you like it ?

Hi, I am a web designer and I am starting a small business for weddings. After your wedding photographer takes pictures I am able to create your site , you choose domain name. And I will take care of registration, web hosting + design. I have 12 styles. And would like to know what you think, please help me to improve it by your feedback , do you like it ? and why? or you do not like it ? and why? This is not an advertisement, just trying to get honest answers , so that I can improve it. Thank you so much. web site name is http://wedgallery.com

Wedding Gallery do you like it ?

Good page, but pricing would be nice, and I would get connected with a photographer than can help advertise you. Nice idea though, it really organizes the wedding day, well.

Wedding Gallery do you like it ?

Available styles are for wedding, but we are also able to create personal galleries fro senior pictures, baby pictures etc- grammatical error, shouldnt be %26quot;fro%26quot; should be %26quot;for%26quot;

I think its a good idea, but you may want to hook up with some photographers to get clients. Also pricing lists are helpful.

Other Replys:I think you have a really good idea. I am a little confused though becasue u have lisings on the left side of the page to go to Style 2 and 3, but I dont think you need it becasue you can simply click next at the bottom of the page. I was a little confused.

I don%26#039;t think this is any different from many, many other web sites offering the same features and more. I didn%26#039;t see a way to add comments or change the name of the pictures. And the writing on the web site is not good; there are too many errors to inspire confidence.

Wedding Gallery do you like it ?

I was just nosing around the site, and I think its a good idea. That way family that couldn%26#039;t attend the wedding can see the pictures right away. I wish they had this when I got married, but unfortunately, my wedding photos are being restored due to Hurricane Katrina damage. Plus, my photographer lived in Chalmette, so the original negatives are gone too. At least online pictures can be saved!

Other Replys:I agree with hotmama. It is a great idea. I have had friends that had their wedding photo%26#039;s online and it was so nice because typically after a wedding you don%26#039;t get to see the photo unless you are close to the couple and great for storage and distant friends and family. Good Job!

How to proceed after registering with .tk to create your website?

I have registered with .tk to host my own website. Its a free hosting site . They have given me the name of my domain, please tell me how to proceed after registering to it. I mean how do I modify it and add pictures, links and other stuff

How to proceed after registering with .tk to create your website?

.tk only forwards requests to your website already present

Ex:

Your already existing website name is

www.xyz.netfirms.com

and your .tk name is

www.pqrs.tk

When somebody hits www.pqrs.tk, he will get forwarded to www.xyz.netfirms.com

I%26#039;ll recomment another website, as it does not put any ad. on ur website

Would unsigned bands pay for a professional website instead of just a myspace page?

Hi,

I%26#039;m thinking of starting a web design business that purely focusses on providing cheap websites for unsigned bands.

I know myspace is hugely popular mainly because there are no costs involved.

Would unsigned bands be interested in having a proper website instead of a myspace page despite the extra costs involved. (domain name registration:鎷? per year and 鎷? per month hosting)

How much would they pay for the initial design and build of the site?

If you are in a band, your opinion is especially helpful.

Would unsigned bands pay for a professional website instead of just a myspace page?

why buy the milk if you can get the cow for free? myspace has a wide audience and even if 1% of the users listen to your song it still alot of people that you%26#039;re reaching. but hey, the con is it%26#039;s not personal enough and you can give it pizzazz. go to a webdesigner and get an estimate.

What are some good webhosting services?

I have a domain name and I%26#039;m looking for a paid web hosting service.

Anyone have some good recommendations?

What are some good webhosting services?

There are a few things to consider when you%26#039;re choosing a host, such as what sort of site you%26#039;re going to have and what features you will need. There%26#039;s a lot more to it than just bandwidth and file storage space...

http://www.hesitantrhino.com/build-your-...

There%26#039;s also a free web host you might want to consider. I found this one recently... no ads, and FTP access, and all the full features you%26#039;d expect. Obviously you%26#039;ll want something more stable for your real site, but it%26#039;s a good launching point for building and experimenting, and you can always point your domain name when you%26#039;re ready to upgrade to paid hosting, and use the free account to build a blog related to your site and create some links... the more links, the better you%26#039;ll do on the search engines.

http://hesitantrhino.com/free-web-hostin...

What are some good webhosting services?

It depends on how much you%26#039;re willing to spend. Recently, I found what looks like a really great place if you want a small personal website - http://holdfire.net/

might want to post this in small business to get ideas too.

Other Replys:Nice site.. you have a typo where it says you can also make photos for senior portraits...you forgot to include the word %26quot;to%26quot; %26quot;we are able to...%26quot;

I think its a good idea. I%26#039;m a wedding photographer and I can see the beauty of having this - but why not offer a custom CD with the flash program embedded in an html document instead of hosting it on line? they will have to be bothered renewing their doman name and hosting subscriptions eventually too.

but I think initially - you should offer the web design and one copy of it on CD also (and of course raise your price accordingly for the CD)

Advertise at bridal fairs, in bridal magazines, at bridal salons, hook up with a photographer and explain that you will give her a $50 referral fee to help you get started, etc.

Good luck and have fun. Nice work.

Should I host my website with Godaddy or x10hosting?

I am looking for a good paid host. I like x10 because I like being able to use cpanel to host my website. If anybody knows any other good websites to host with please let me know. I need frontpage extensions- so as long as the host has that in their package I%26#039;m good. I also have my domain name with godaddy.

Should I host my website with Godaddy or x10hosting?

Used Godaddy for virtual and dedicated servers both. Good company. I reccomend them. :-)))

There tech support was great. This was over a year ago, but doubt they have changed.

Should I host my website with Godaddy or x10hosting?

yeh

Other Replys:Hi,

I%26#039;ve heard about Godaddy, but never heard about X10. Most good hosting companies today offer Control Panel interfaces. I have my site hosted with Aplus (www.aplus.net). In the past 1 year the downtime was roughly 2 hrs. Very good.

Aplus also has an excellent Cpanel interface. You can use frontpage extensions and they have a tool to manage frontpage files.

I%26#039;d say go with Aplus.

Other Replys:I recommend HostGator. I%26#039;ve had them for years, very good customer service, and excellent up times. Site has never been down. It also has very reasonable prices.

What software do I need in order to start my own phpBB or let's say vB forum?

Hello guys,

I really wish to have my own Forum but I am not a professional to do so. That%26#039;s why I decided to ask you for advices, recommendations and smart tips before I jump into it, please!

Five questions:

1. Which of the following you think is really easy to be maintained by non-professional, like me?

http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/904/2...

2. How much usually this job cost(...because I think I must pay to the coder for that)?

3. What is the min. PC configuration that I need?

4. Can I run it directly from my laptop(Acer Aspire 5100-5022)?

I have a domain name at GoDaddy.com, but I am not sure what hosting plan/package to choose in order to run the applications from above?

5. Are they(phpBB %26amp; vBulletin) comes as a standard options with any of those GoDaddy.com%26#039;s hosting plans? I know that the first one is free and the second is the best(+200$) but as a newbie what first do you recommend? Thank you so much for your patience! emilkostov / at / gmail / dot / com

What software do I need in order to start my own phpBB or let%26#039;s say vB forum?

I%26#039;ve installed vBulletin before and it was really easy. It%26#039;s simply a matter of copying the software up to your hosting server and then setting off the installation. It installs itself once you get it started. Regarding GoDaddy, you need to call them and ask them what they have that would support vBulletin or any of them. They need to be able to run Php for example and I believe they need to have mySql (or one of the databases) available. Again, ask them if they have it and which hosting plan you would need.

Once vBulletin is installed, maintaining and updating it is easy as well since it has its own administrative control panel. The only thing that can be difficult for a newbie is if you want to change the overall color scheme and look of it. Otherwise, you can put your own logo on there and leave the default look and design just as it is. It isn%26#039;t a bad looking design as it comes.

I hope this helps some.

Good luck!
