Can anyone help me with some domain/hosting questions?

I am not very technically minded and are in the process of creating my own web site for out holiday home rental. We already have a site, but are not too happy with it - hence the possibility of creating a new one. What I would like to know is - how easy is it? I know about purchasing a new domain, but I was told that one comes complementary with having a yahoo account? Is this correct or is someone filling me with inaccurate information? I was also told that i could probably have a free hosting with the yahoo account. Again, I am not too sure if this is correct or not. Any information would be greatfully received (plaine english please...)

Thanks again

Sharon

If you are creating your website on a local PC and want an advertisement free site with a simple .co.uk name, you might look at 1and1 Home package at less than 6 pounds per month plus yearly domain name cost:

There are various ways to upload your pages and folders but I use Wise-FTP which can be downloaded from 1and1.

No that%26#039;s untrue.Physical hosting of your own domain is going to run you cheap, about 10$ a month. The domain is 7$ one time, per year (standard godaddy.com rates.)

Lastly, to design a website, well that just requires talent. It isn%26#039;t that easy to program functions on your website, but just something with graphic and text, no links or extensive programming, nah not that hard if you are familiar with photoshop or something similar.

Other Replys:If you want you%26#039;re own domain name, for example, %26quot;Holidayhomerental.com,%26quot; you will have to pay. Yahoo, Google, and tons of other websites offer free hosting, but your URL will look like this: %26quot;holidayhomerental.googlepages.com.%26quot; Yahoo%26#039;s web hosting is Geocities. So your page would be %26quot;holidayhomerentals.geocities.com.%26quot; For a professional website, you should probably just hire someone to make the website. People (me included) get paid and do excellent jobs with websites and all you have to do is be creative and tell them what you want.

Other Replys:not sure about the yahoo hosting, but you can buy domain names easy, .co.uk is about 鎷? a year! how much do you have to buy web building software? the programs for it are allot better now for a novice, but there are allot of crap ones

Other Replys:To host you need to buy a secondary domain name at least, if you want to get really serious you also want the primary DNS but that will also involve hosting servers and a fair bit of technical knowhow.

I don%26#039;t think Yahoo supply you with one, certainly not for free at any rate.
