If say I register my domain name at godaddy.com , but I want to use free webhosting at atspace.com with that domain name. How does that work?
Can I register a domain name at one place and get hosting from another ?
Yes!
You need to get the DNS addresses (1 and 2) from atspace and input them under domain forwarding at Godaddy.com.
If you already have an address (URL) at atspace, you can also just forward the domain to that and use %26#039;masking%26#039;.
It becomes active in anywhere from 2 hours to 48 hours.

Yes. I have done exactly what you are asking - registered at godaddy.com and hosted it at another company.
Other Replys:Yes, you will just need to know the name server of the hosting service, and they will allow you to forward your domain name to their site. =)

Other Replys:For sure you can, I%26#039;ve done it several times, you just need to put in the proper DNS servers where you register your Domain.
Other Replys:Yes, If you are using a free host they probably don%26#039;t give you the DNS. So you can just forward your domain to the url of your site.
Log in to your godaddy account and click on %26quot;my domains%26quot;. Then click on %26quot;domain forwarding%26quot; on the left. Click on your domain and put in the url of your site from the free host. If you want your domain to appear in the address bar then you will also need to check %26quot;mask domain%26quot; under the masking tab.
